Dubai, UAE, 15th March 2015: Silver sponsor Gargash Enterprises is honored to have renewed its sponsorship with Emirates Down Syndrome Association (EDSA) for 2015. This unique partnership has aided the successful operations of various events and activities held in the interest of the Down syndrome children, thereby boosting their acceptance in the society. For years this partnership has been enlightening the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and making them believe that they are part of this vibrant society just as much as everyone else.
Gargash Enterprises has proudly organized various activities, the recent one being a fun day out for the Down syndrome children. The event started at the Gargash Enterprises headquarters in Deira, where the children were given an opportunity to experience the luxury and comfort of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Following this, Gargash Enterprises had arranged a grand lunch for the children and guardians at a five star venue in collaboration with Group 32.
“We are proud to be associated with EDSA, because it gives us an opportunity to touch the lives of those individuals who otherwise feel neglected in our society. Being the silver sponsor and carrying out various events in partnership with EDSA is an enriching experience, which not only amplifies our social responsibility portfolio but also strengthens our efforts in spreading awareness of Down syndrome” said Mr. Adel Al Khaja, Government & VIP Relations Manager – Gargash Enterprises.
Ms. Sonia AlHashimi – Chairperson, EDSA said “Our EDSA along with all its board members and families would like to thank Gargash Enterprises for renewing their partnership, thereby promising to extend their support for another year. Their unwavering support helps us greatly in conducting direct programs for the people with Down syndrome and their families. We have the privilege of providing these services free of cost, all thanks to our ardent supporter. The contribution from the community assures the success of these programs to the end”.
Down syndrome is a genetic condition whereby a person is born with three copies of chromosome 21 versus two. The average IQ of a young adult with Down syndrome is 50, equivalent to the mental age of an 8 or 9 year old child, but this varies widely. Down syndrome children are educated in typical school classes, while others require more specialized education. EDSA is a non-profit organization that aims at improving quality of life for people with Down syndrome.
Both the Emirates Down Syndrome Association and Gargash Enterprises recognize the need to encourage people to see beyond the limitations of Down syndrome. Being an ardent supporter of EDSA, Gargash Enterprises has been actively involved in carrying out various activities and events for the development of the children of this association. Driving the children down to the legendary parade in Mercedes-Benz cars, taking them for a chauffeur drive tour to major attractions in Dubai, giving them a chance to witness the famous F1 race at Yas Marina; all these activities were carried out in an effort to promote their acceptance. Gargash Enterprises appreciates the benefits associated with such a partnership and envisions many more inspiring events that will help raise awareness about Down syndrome.
