UAE, 8th of March, 2017 – Rewaq Ousha Bint Hussein Cultural Center launched their annual activity around the Let’s Read Initiative which is responsible for distributing books at malls in Dubai and Sharjah to support the national Month of Reading which happens all over the UAE during the month of March. Dr. Moza Bin Ghobash Chairwoman for Rewaq Ousha Bint Hussein Cultural Center hosted the launch of the initiative at Dubai Festival City Mall with support from sponsorship by Gargash Enterprises – Mercedes-Benz and Johnson & Johnson.
“The return of this initiative for a second year is not only a testament to the Center’s commitment to literacy in the UAE, it also demonstrates our commitment to supporting the office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum with the national reading campaign throughout March,” said Dr. Moza Bin Ghobash. “The initiative is centered around creating inspirational spaces within malls which act as libraries with seats and a collection of free books for children. These libraries include educational materials in different languages targeted for all ages to help encourage children’s interest in reading.”
Last year, the Let’s Read Initiative distributed 10,000 books in five malls around Dubai and it is expected that the same number will be provided this year however the program is being expanded to include malls in Sharjah. The malls participating in the initiative include Dubai Festival City, Burjuman, Al Reef Mall, Sahara Mall and Mega Mall.
The Let’s Read Initiative would not be possible without the support of Gargash Enterprises – Mercedes Benz and Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Adel Al Khaja, Government Relationship Manager at Gargash Enterprises, who is a major partner in the Let’s Read Initiative said, “We are proud to participate in this year’s Let’s Read Initiative which promotes literacy and provides books within public spaces in the UAE. The program falls in line with the ‘Year of Giving’ which was announced by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and is another way for us to support and participate in the cultural and educational development of our country.”
Mr. Yassir Abbas, the Commercial Director of Johnson & Johnson said, “The Let’s Read Initiative directly relates causes supported by our Johnson Baby division, which is the care for children. We not only look to cater to the physical aspects of childcare but also the developmental and educational aspects.”
